Use 3G only when necessary to Save Battery Consumption
To save battery consumption, use only 3G when needed. Letting your 3G turned ON always, will drain your battery faster.
Whenever you require fast data transfer, you can use 3G. Whenever your phone is idle, it is always wise to turn 3G OFF and you can leave your Cellular Data ON to ensure you still receive timely notifications.
Cellular Data is using the lower range network than 3G, e.g. 2G, EDGE, etc. The energy being used for sending and receiving data in 2G is less than 3G, but is much slower in speed. However, Cellular Data is still good enough for receiving notifications.
Besides, you can always use Wi-Fi connection whenever there is a network available, to save the usage on 3G over your mobile's network data usage.
